A high-profile delegation from Nigeria comprising of 09 senior Railway officers from the Nigerian Railway Corporation and Transportation Infrastructure Department visited the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on 14th and 15th July 2019. During their two-day visit they interacted with Shri Alok Tandon, Managing Director/NMRC apart from visiting various stations, Depot and OCC accompanied by Shri P. D. Upadhyay, Executive Director, NMRC and other senior NMRC officials.
The Delegation included Mr. Obiorah Emedolibe, Director (Legal)/Nigerian Railway Corporation; Mr. Emmanuel Onwatli, Director, Transportation Infrastructure Department; Mr. Bami Akinlade, Head / Technical Operations, Secure ID (this is the technological partner of the Nigerian Railway Corporation) and a Lady Officer who was Head of Procurement in the Nigerian Railway Corporation. Besides the Nigerian Delegation, Mr. Puneet Kale and Mr. Prabhu from SC Soft (NMRC’s Technological Partner) and Mr. Hanumanth Pujari, Vice President, Aurionpro Solutions (One of the partners of the SBI consortium)
On the first day i.e. 14th July, the delegation visited some of the stations of NMRC like Sector 51, Sector 137, and Pari Chowk. The NMRC team showed them around the stations and explained the technical aspects of the ticketing system and the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFC) in NMRC. The Nigerian Officials were impressed by the spacious and beautiful stations of NMRC adorned with artwork. They were also impressed by the state-of-the-art technology used by NMRC in its ticketing and fare collection system and planned to replicate the same system in the Nigerian Railways
The delegation was also fascinated by the last mile connectivity initiatives introduced by NMRC for the convenience of the passengers like, Feeder Buses and E- Rickshaws and took ideas from the NMRC system to improve last mile connectivity in their city.
On the second day i.e. 15th July, the Delegation visited the NMRC Depot in Greater Noida. Apart from the maintenance and stabling activities of the Depot, the Delegation were given the tour of the highly modernised Operations Control Centre (OCC). The entire train monitoring and signalling system was explained in detail by NMRC Officers and the Delegation was fascinated by the centralised control system of NMRC equipped with the latest technology.
After the visit, the officials from Nigeria interacted with Shri Alok Tandon, Managing Director, NMRC and expressed their feelings about the entire NMRC system. The Nigerian Officials were very impressed by the entire functioning of NMRC’s Aqua Line and appreciated the leadership behind the smooth functioning of the system. They also sought NMRC’s expertise in helping them in improving their Railway system and helping them in implementing the latest technology in the Nigerian Railway System.
